No one would believe 90 year old Stanley Murphy would cause a stir akin to a scene from the movie Speed when he popped out on his mobility scooter to pick up a newspaper from his local shop.

He took a wrong turn and ended up on the dual carriageway. Undaunted, Mr Murphy kept his "pedal to the metal" and continued trundling along in the centre of the slow lane at the blistering top speed of an alarming – 8mph.

He was eventually spotted by a truck driver who realised the pensioner was in imminent danger as he drove along the A27 in Shoreham, West Sussex.

Sleazy UK newspaper The Sun reports that a sex-mad Russian died after guzzling a bottle of Viagra pills to keep him going for a 12-hour orgy with two women pals. The women had bet mechanic Sergey Tuganov* £3,000 that he wouldn’t be able to satisfy them both non-stop for the half-day sex marathon.

But minutes after winning the wager, the randy 28-year-old dropped dead with a heart attack, revealed Moscow police.

One of the women, named only as Alina, said: “We called emergency services but it was too late, there was nothing they could do.”

There's a lesson here, kids, but we're not quite sure what it is. Its probably something about doing anything to excess. But we're not quite sure what it is...

Weta Workshop granted Nadya Vessey the chance to swim as a mermaid.
