Pre-order details for the newest MMO on the block, DarkFall Online have now been made available.

The game goes live on 25th February and is available only via electronic download at the somewhat hefty price of 42 Euros (it ain't cheap).

Pre-orders will begin within the next 48 hours and consist of the Darkfall client digital download along with the obligatory free first month of play.

It's the pre-ordering that's a bit unusual: A non-refundable payment of 2.52 Euros is required to activate the process. The remainder (39.48) of the pre-order price will be billed on February 25th. You’ll be free to cancel the purchase any time before the additional charge goes in on February the 25th (does this seem strange to anyone else)?

So you're basically being charged 2.52+VAT for a game you may never play.

Darkfall’s monthly subscription is set at an equally pricey 11.77 euro. A 3 month subscription has a 10% discount and a six month subscription has 15% discount.

In addition, there's a 19% VAT added to all payments within the EU. So this makes it a fairly expensive game with a whopping single monthly charge. You can pay by Paypal, which  does make it easier for gamers without credit cards.
